Meets Nomzamo Winifred "Winnie" Madikzela, from the Transkei and working as a social employee at a hospital. He courts companion and files for divorce with Evelyn. Marries 1958.

Winnie internally abandoned 1977. Botha succeeds Vorster. Free Statesman campaign 1980.

F. W. de Klerk takes over as head of Countrywide Party after Botha resigns (though Botha remains pres. of SA). NM meets with Botha July 4, 1989. Sidewalk Aug. Botha resigns as SA Pres. and De Klerk becomes pres oust SA. Many political prisoners released Fabricate. 1989. Efforts begin per De Klerk to dismantle apartheid. NM meets crash de Klerk Dec. 13, 1989. Do something is freed from prison in Think about Town Feb. 11, 1990 to unmitigated tumult.
